Shy Licenses “Only the Night” & “Breathe” for Double Vision

Film Director Terry R. Wickham is honored to announce that he has licensed two songs “Only the Night” & “Breathe” from the British HardRock/Metal band Shy.

Wickham says , “I have been listening to Shy since the mid-80s and I feel a kinship to the band’s amazing late guitarist Steve Harris.

I have always admired his skill on the instrument, but after speaking with his wife Deb Harris, I learned Steve loved horror movies and we were born the same year.

I wrote Double Vision as a love story. So  I needed songs that would capture a very affectionate, passionate feel, especially because  it  involves two people with a romantic history that had not seen each other for a decade. Plus these characters were not sure what each other thinks now.

So I wanted songs that could support that kind of doubt and mystery, yet  create some sort of a unsaid echo that seemed to say they still wanted to be together.

Shy’s music is always reminded me of Journey with a little heavier metallic touch. I have absolutely no doubt their songs would be perfect for this movie.

I set my sights on their self-titled album Shy that came out in 2011, which was the last album the band released before Steve Harris passed away early in October of 2011. Since I reviewed that album as a journalist, I knew there were multiple songs I could choose from that would really support Double Vision.

With the help of the late Steve Harris’ wife Deb Harris, bassist Roy Davis and vocalist Lee Small, I was able to get approval to use the songs “Only the Night” and “Breathe.

I look at this whole positive situation as Shy’s songs are not only helping enrich the loving atmosphere of my movie, but it gives me a chance to keep Shy’s music alive and in the process honor the musical Legacy Steve Harris left behind.”

Rian Licenses “Out of the Darkness” for Double Vision

Award-winning Filmmaker Terry R. Wickham is smiling after European melodic hard rock band Rian has agreed to license the title track off their debut album Out of the Darkness to his forthcoming love story suspense thriller.

Wickham says, “As I was writing the screenplay for Double Vision, I visualized hearing very specific type of songs in the movie in relation to the characters I created and romantic mood I want.

I am a lifelong fan of melodic hard rock and heavy metal. I feel it’s super important to be true to oneself and tell stories utilizing the things that interest and matter to me.

So the music I wanted to hear with the main male character Wes McCulloch,  is melodic hard rock.  Wes drives a souped-up muscle car (mint black 1967 camero will be used in the movie) listening to melodic hard rock songs. In particular,  he replays a love mix CD for his girlfriend Julie, now that they are reconvening after 10-years apart.

So I put a search out for the top ranked melodic hard rock songs over the last year. I did my due diligence and listened to hundreds of these highly praised songs from numerous Hard Rock websites. Rian definitely stood out because they have a perfect mix of heaviness and melody.

I just love this type of sound and Rian personifies it beautifully. With “Out of the Darkness, if you listen to the lyrics they actually could support multiple storyline meaning as to what happens in the movie. For me, it’s a perfect marriage of song & film.

I hope when the audience hears “Out of the Darknessin Double Vision that it attracts new fans to Rian’s music.  In my humble opinion, these guys are something special.”

RIAN stays with one foot in the present and the other on the 80s’ rock scene. The guys spent last year working on their debut album ‘Out of the Darkness’, released July 2017 on MelodicRock Records. Filled with powerful well-crafted songs the album received great reception from the press and fans all over the world. Rian’s melodic rock is all about riffs, hooks & harmonies with a gritty edge. All that gives the band their original sound.

Current Lineup:

Jan Johansson – Drums

Jonas Melin – Bass

Terry R. Wickham Filmmaking Boot Camp

In an effort to make his upcoming Filmmaking Boot Camp class more affordable for students and adults alike, the four-consecitive Saturdays course has a new price of $220

The Award-winning filmmaker says, “I want to make sure more people who want to learn how to make a movie can afford my course. This includes students.

I’m super excited to teach people things I never knew by just reading books or even from film schools in traditional settings.  What I am going to talk about will be unique because it’s based on my experience of making films from the ground up for the past 30 years. I went to film school at NYU and American Film Institute but most of my teaching will come from my direct experience of making movies and everything I’ve absorbed my whole life as a film fanatic.

Some examples would be not just technically how to write a proper screenplay but the ideas and thoughts that should be considered when doing a script. I have all sorts of little tips on how to make the process quicker and more productive.

Another thing will be when working with the actors on a movie, the key important things like how to speak an actors language that must be considered to get good performances, at the same time inspiring not just the performers but the crew.

I’ll be letting people know how they can get the most out of their production dollar and even in some situations how to get around things where you may not have money to normally get.

I can’t wait to see who turns out and I feel honored to get the opportunity to give them the knowledge to become filmmakers themselves. ”
